This information remains valid over the long term.
I am a tenured associate professor at the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University. My research and engineering work focuses on operating systems and pervasive computing. I am looking for students, interns, undergraduate students, master’s students, Ph.D. students, postdoctoral researchers, and engineers to join the group.
- AI4OS and OS4AI
- Cross-layer co-design across operating systems, models, compilers, and hardware, including Rust, one-way component dependencies, user-level hardware interrupts, unified shared memory, and heterogeneous AI hardware accelerators.
- Generative, verifiable, explainable, and rollback-capable operating system abstractions for AI agents, together with engineering constraints for AI and large language models.
- Reinforcement-learning-based resource scheduling across CPUs, GPUs, NPUs, memory, and networks.
- Intelligent memory management, from page replacement to context and KV-cache management for AI workloads.
- Intelligent I/O, file systems, and storage-path optimization.
- AI-driven system observability, fault diagnosis, and self-healing operating systems.
- AI-enhanced operating system security and reliability, including observable, understandable, diagnosable, and self-healing OS behavior.
- Dynamically generated OS management interfaces for intelligent human-machine collaboration.
- AI-native memory management, from DRAM pages to KV-cache pages.
- Scheduling systems for LLM inference.
- AI cluster operating systems, including resource abstractions across GPUs, nodes, and data centers.
- Operating system support for AI training systems, including elasticity, fault tolerance, fault resilience, and recoverable execution.
- Key technologies for GPU/TPU operating systems for AI accelerators.
- Operating system technologies for intelligent robots and embodied intelligence.
- Lightweight OS-level AI acceleration for edge and endpoint AI.
- Deterministic latency, multi-tenant isolation, and performance acceleration for cloud services and AI inference services.
Expectations
- Be steady, conscientious, and persistent in research and engineering work.
- Work well with others, learn from and help one another, and take initiative in learning.
- Think deeply, investigate problems thoroughly, and be willing to take on challenges.
Benefits and Support
- The work will be based at the Operating Systems Lab of the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, and at collaborating units of the lab.
- Engineers, once hired, will sign a labor contract with Tsinghua University. Tsinghua University will handle housing fund, insurance, personnel files, and related matters according to university regulations.
- Interns will receive subsidies comparable to Tsinghua students at the same degree level. Interns from universities outside Beijing may receive accommodation support.
- Interns should obtain approval from their current advisors and universities.
- Graduation thesis topics and appropriate advising can be provided for interns. Interns may also attend relevant Tsinghua courses and academic talks when needed for their thesis work.
- Joint training can be arranged after reaching consensus with the student’s advisor, subject to the requirements of the student’s home university.
